Dear Parents/Guardians & Students,
The ETB ethos and Values
We would like to gather parents/guardians views about the Ethos of our school. This survey is also part of a wider Education and Training Board Ireland review across the schools under their patronage.
We would be grateful if you could take a moment to complete the survey by clicking on the link below. Please note that students were given an opportunity to complete the survey during class tutorials this morning.

1st Year Pupil/Parent/Teacher (PPT) Meeting
Our 1st Year PPT meeting will take place face to face on Monday 14 March 2022. You will recall that prior to Covid we had started to use the B-Block Social area to reduce the load on the PE Hall. While the necessity to social distance has been removed it is our intention for this meeting to use the multi-purpose area to further alleviate the congregation of teachers, students and parents. Please note the allocation of teachers to centres will be based on alphabetical order. Details regarding the location of teachers will be included in our update next Friday 11 March.
Safe Internet Month
In February we informed parents of our plans to introduce a ‘Safe Internet Month’ to the Glanmire Community College calendar and to run a school based internet safety programme during the month of March. Session 1 which focused on the ‘Self-Esteem Online’ was completed during Class Tutorial this morning. Please click on the link below to view the content of the lesson.

Focus of the Week
Parents and students are asked to note that our focus of the week beginning Monday 7 March 2022 is piercings. A reminder that piercings are not allowed except for one stud in the lower lobe of each ear, nose and other piercings are not permitted. With the requirement to wear masks during the pandemic some students piercings could not be seen. Now that masks are no longer obligatory it is important that our rule around piercings is reinforced. We have asked all our teachers to ensure that students do not sit in their classes with incorrect piercings and to question students they meet on the corridors during school time who are not observing this rule and place a note in their journal. Students will not be allowed to class if they have 2 notes in their journal regarding piercings. Class Teachers highlighted this issue to students at tutorials this morning and the message was also be re-iterated by school senior management as part of the whole school address this morning. Year Heads will also emphasize the message again at weekly assemblies.

International Soccer
Chloe Atkinson, R. Nuala, in 5th year was representing the Ireland U17 team over the midterm break at a training camp in Spain and competing in two friendly games against Switzerland. The Swiss won the 1st encounter 3-1 but Ireland dominated the second game with a 4-1 victory. Chloe had a big part to play as a playmaker as she set up 2 of Irelands goals. The second Irish goal came in the 36th minute, after fantastic work from Chloe Atkinson winning the ball back on the right-hand side. She played a through ball to Joy Ralph who slotted the ball into the bottom right corner, Ireland 2-1. Ireland’s third came swiftly after, and in the 58th minute Atkinson put another great ball into the box, it was spilled by the Swiss keeper and Ralph pounced to get her second of the game. The Girls in Green maintained dominance to finish out the game with a great win. Well done Chloe and the Irish team!
GCC Robotics
