GCC Alumni – Aisling Moore GCC Graduate 2005
Last year we started a ‘spotlight on GCC alumni’ with a monthly post on GCC Instagram. We started with the current eleven staff members who are also former students, the original alumni. It is a lovely way to keep the connections going. With the arrival of the New Year, we have again reached out and invited some of our past students to reconnect with us. We ask past students to answer a few short questions, give a brief account of how their journey since graduating from GCC has been and include a photo or two. Their stories are then shared our GCC school website and the GCC Instagram account [@glanmirecc handle]. Neart – Supporting Mental Health in Post-Primary Schools
NEART is the new national programme of mental health and wellbeing resources and training for post-primary schools. Jigsaw was the successful bidder for the tender to deliver Neart. Jigsaw have begun sharing background information to the project, outlining what training and resources will be available to school staff and how to register to access the programme.
For parents/guardians:
Jigsaw is planning to provide a range of supports for parents/guardians which will include a podcast series and a suite of webinars. In order to inform these developments, Jigsaw is circulating a ‘snap survey’ to parents/guardians to hear from them about the mental health issues they are most concerned about/interested in. They will also host both in-person and online consultation focus groups with parents at the end of January and early February to build further on the data we get via the survey.
Jigsaw have invited schools to share the link to this survey with parents:
https://jigsawymh.typeform.com/to/GyFrkdtd
The views of parents/guardians are very important in helping Jigsaw to provide a range of supports most relevant for students. Please note, this survey closes on Wednesday 5 February.
Jigsaw is very much look forward to supporting schools through the Neart programme. If you have any particular queries, please feel free to contact Jigsaw at schools@jigsaw.ie
