We will refer to this at our First-Year parents information evening in the B Block Social Area next Monday 25 September at 7.30pm. GCC Music students
On Saturday 23 September the Triskel Arts Centre in Cork City hosted OSCAILT, a new composition by composer Jennifer Walsh.  OSCAILT is an extraordinary multi-media composition for sound and video by the amazing force that is vocalist , improviser and composer Jennifer Walsh. Eighteen GCC music students joined Jennifer on stage.  They attended a workshop last week and also engaged with a Zoom Q&A meeting with Jennifer before the performance.

GCC Information Briefing for Parents of 1st Year Students 

Our GCC Information Briefing for Parents of 1st Year Students takes place on Monday evening 25 September at 7.30pm in the B Block Social Area. Among the speakers on the night will be our Year Head for 1st Year Ms McCormack as well as the Deputy Principal overseeing the 1st Year group Ms Byrne. Topics to be discussed will include:

  • Role of the Class Teacher, Year Head and Pastoral Care Team
  • Procedures and support for students
  • Additional Learning Needs
  • Restorative Practice
  • VSWare
  • Literacy
  • My Brain & Me – The Science of Learning
  • Teaching & Learning
  • Parents’ Survey

To facilitate attendance at the GCC Parents Council AGM, the briefing will finish not later than 8.30pm. We look forward to meeting parents on Monday evening.

GCC Parents Council AGM

The AGM of this years Parents Council will be held at 8.30pm on Monday 25 September immediately after the information meeting for parents of 1st year students. The GCC Parents’ Council always welcomes new members and we encourage parents to support its work.

Our GCC Parent Council meetings usually take place on the same dates as our Board of Management meetings. The dates for our remaining BOM meetings are:

  • Monday 6 November 2023
  • Monday 8 January 2024
  • Monday 11 March 2024
  • Monday 13 May 2024

GCC Ski Trip 2024

Our group of approximately 40 students and 5 teachers will travel to the Pinzolo, a beautiful village situated in Val Rendena in Italy.  The ski area offers a large number of pistes for skiers of different levels and experience and is served by modern lift facilities.
