Dear GCC Parents and Students,

2026/2027 School Year – Information for Parents

As the 2025/2026 academic year draws to a close, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all GCC parents for your continued support, encouragement, and engagement with the school. We greatly value the trust you place in us as a centre of learning for your children, and we remain committed to working in partnership with our entire school community to promote excellence across all aspects of school life.

We deeply appreciate the respectful and open communication shared between parents, staff, and students, which contributes to a strong, inclusive, and supportive school environment. We also wish to acknowledge the dedication of our teachers, SNAs and ancillary staff, whose professionalism, care, and high expectations support each student in reaching their full potential.

Looking ahead, preparations for the 2026/2027 school year are already well underway. To assist with planning for the year ahead, we have organised all essential information required to prepare your child(ren) for a successful start in September into clearly defined sections. We encourage all parents to review this information carefully both now and over the summer period.

We also wish to inform parents that Patrick O’Mahony has been appointed as Deputy Principal in Blackrock College Dublin and will be leaving GCC during the Summer to take up this new role. We would like to thank Patrick for his immense contribution to the school during his 9 years in GCC, two as Deputy Principal. With his outstanding work ethic, incredible attention to detail and never-ending persistence, he has transformed the fabric of the school ensuring staff and students work in a warm, welcoming, high-quality learning environment that we can all be proud of. Allied to his lead role in the introduction and embedding of Restorative Practice in GCC, Patrick has made a significant contribution to promoting the positive wellbeing of all in our school community. Patrick is a person of the highest integrity who has invested himself wholly in the betterment of GCC. We congratulate Patrick on his appointment and wish him and his family well as they begin a new chapter in Dublin. We also congratulate Tom Pittam on his appointment as Deputy Principal.

We wish all members of our GCC community a safe and enjoyable summer break. Finally, we extend our very best wishes to our 3rd and 6th Year students as they prepare for their State Examinations, which commence next Wednesday 3 June.
