Dear GCC Parents/Guardians & Students,

We are delighted to welcome our students and staff back this evening from this week’s French language trip to Paris. We are sure the students all had a wonderful experience—immersing themselves in the culture, exploring the city’s famous landmarks, and putting their French language skills into practice.
Thank you to lead teacher David Leahy and his French Department colleagues Afra Murphy, Miriam Corcoran and Veronique Lauret who organised and supervised the trip and provided such a wonderful opportunity to our students. Well done also to all the students for representing Glanmire Community College so positively throughout their travels.
Parents may be aware that three of our students were photographed with Brigitte Macron, wife of French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday at Disneyland Paris. David and the three students Kate Leisk, Keeley Goggin and Ava Ryan were interviewed from Paris this morning by Paul Byrne on 96FM about this chance encounter. Please click on the link to listen to the interview.

CAO Applications
A reminder to all parents of Sixth Year students that the CAO application deadline to avail of the discounted early bird fee of €35 is 5pm on Tuesday 20 January 2026. After this date, the application fee increases to €50, with the standard application deadline closing at 5pm on Sunday 1 February 2026. While a late application window will open from Thursday 5 March to 1st May (fee €65), it is important to note that restricted courses are not available during this period. Students will also have an opportunity to amend their course choices through the Change of Mind facility from 5th May to 1st July. GCC School Car Park
While we recognise the challenge for all road users during this extended period of road works, we kindly ask parents not to drive into and/or park in the GCC car park when dropping and collecting students from school. We also ask parents and students to be respectful of the housing estates and businesses near the school, particularly around drop off & collection times. Please do not park vehicles inappropriately, for example, on footpaths. Our school car park is always very busy and with road works continuing, it is important that we minimise the throughput of cars on the school grounds.
We would like to remind parents about with our entry/exit system to the school car park. Please note that:
- From 8.30am to 9.10am Monday to Friday the school car park is entry only
- From 3.30pm to 4.10pm Monday to Thursday and 12.30pm to 1.10 pm on Friday the school car park is exit only.
We would also be grateful if parents could remind students:
- to use the pedestrian footpaths and not walk along or between cars when entering/leaving the school
- use the pedestrian gates only and not enter or leave the school via the main gate
- students are to take care in general when walking or cycling to school particularly with so many different sets of roadworks happening currently in Glanmire.
We thank you for your cooperation.

GCC School Office
A reminder to parents that our GCC school office opening hours are 9:00am to 2:45pm, Monday to Thursday and 9.00am to 12.30pm on Friday. This is to allow our clerical staff sufficient time to complete essential administrative duties and to help reduce the volume of queries at the office hatch during peak times.
We encourage parents to email the school where possible rather than phone. Email communication allows us to manage queries more efficiently and ensures that your concerns are directed to the appropriate staff member.
With over 1,140 students in our care, it may take a number of days before we are able to respond to queries. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to support all students and families as effectively as possible. We thank all our GCC parents for your continued cooperation and support.
HSE HPV Catch Up Vaccination Programme
The HSE have contacted schools regarding their HPV catch up vaccination programme. The HPV (Human Papillomavirus) catch-up vaccination is being offered to all pupils who are in 5th and 6th year, who have not previously received the HPV vaccine. Other year groups will be eligible in subsequent years. Most students only need to receive one dose of HPV vaccine (if someone has a weak immune system they will need 3 doses).
Please visit www.hpv.ie for more information. We will communicate with parents as we receive further information from the HSE.

National Parent’s Council- Public Consultation
Dear Parents,
As you may be aware, a public consultation is currently being undertaken by the Mental Health Commission to inform the development of national standards for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
CAMHS is available for all young people under 18 years of age, who are experiencing moderate to severe mental disorders that affect their ability to function in day to day activities. Children are usually referred to CAHMS by their GP.
National Parents Council would like to get your views on the development of these standards. We will share a survey on this shortly but we are planning to host online and in person sessions on this also.
The online sessions will be on
- Monday 26th January at 7pm and
- Wednesday 28th January at 10am
