Dear Parents,

GCC Strategic Planning – Parents/Guardians Survey

GCC is committed to providing a high-quality educational experience for all its students and seeking excellence in all aspects of school life. Proper forward planning is essential to give GCC the best opportunity for sustained and continued success. GCC is in the process of developing our school improvement plan for the period September 2023 to December 2026. This plan will provide clear direction for the students, staff and management, as to the agreed priorities for the school over the coming years. As part of the plan we are seeking the input and participation of parents and guardians. Please click on the link below to complete the short survey:

TY Trip to Amsterdam

We would like to welcome home our TY students and staff [Tour 1] who return from Amsterdam this evening. Our second group are looking forward to travelling out next Tuesday. We would like to thank all our teachers who accompany our students on these trips and ensure they can avail of this wonderful opportunity.

TY Parents are asked to note that once the second tour group return from Amsterdam it is intended to limit the
number of TY activities and events to the scheduled times on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons so that students can engage in meaningful programmes of work in preparation for 5th Year.

French Exchange

We say ‘au revoir’ to the staff and students of L’Ecole Massillon who returned to Paris this morning after a wonderful week in GCC. As well as sampling school and family life, our visitors were delighted to take a tour of UCC, wander around Charles Fort in Kinsale and explore the magical gardens on Garnish Island off Glengarriff. There was also a little time to try their hand at gaelic football and hurling with limited success!! Sincere thanks to our teachers and to our families who hosted the students and looked after them so well. Our French Exchange with Massillon goes from strength to strength and preparations for next year have already begun.

GCC Summer Exams

Parents and guardians are asked to note that we hope to share the Summer Exam timetable with students as part of our update next Friday 28 April.

GCC Stationery Lists

Parents are asked to note that further to our staff meeting on Thursday 20 April, subject departments have been asked to begin updating their stationery lists for the 23/24 academic year. These stationery lists will be shared with parents via the school website on the last day of the school year (Friday 2 June). Departments have been asked to be as specific and detailed as possible in their stationery list requirements, including monetary contributions that parents may have to make towards subjects, field trips, materials for practical subjects etc. as appropriate.

Subject coordinators have also been asked to feedback to school management about the possibility of including exam papers on the stationery lists.
