Congratulations and best wishes to Leaving Cert Applied (LCA) students Patryk Kusnierz, forthcoming trip to the pan-European Youth Forum, Euroscola, at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
This is a great opportunity for our students to meet, work and socialise with other student representatives from each of the European Union member states. It is a great honour and achievement for Patryk, Jake and Daniel to be selected by the Michael Sweetnam Trust as only 24 Leaving Cert Applied students were selected nationally to represent their school and country at the European Parliament. We in Glanmire Community College are exceptionally proud of the students on this wonderful achievement.
We would like to thank all our LCA students in Rang Maire (5th Year) and Rang Barra (6th Year) and their parents for their continued support of our school and our LCA programme.
We would also like to acknowledge Ms Nell Leahy (LCA Co-ordinator), Mr Tom Pittam (Class teacher Rang Maire), Mr Dean Grainger (Class teacher Rang Barra) and all the staff working with our Leaving Cert Applied groups for their outstanding work in ensuring that our LCA programme in GCC continues to go from strength to strength.
A special word of thanks to LCA2 English and Communications Teacher, Ms Julie O’Connor, who supported these students to complete their Contemporary Issues task and for facilitating their entry to the Michael Sweetnam Trust competition.
We look forward to hearing and sharing our students’ reports of their experiences on their return from this event.
