First year Nativity and Carol service

On Tuesday 11th December, all the first years attended the annual Christmas Nativity. This was the first year the new school chaplain Ms. Mc Inerney held the service. The theme this year was the meaning of Christmas to everyone whether they are fortunate or unfortunate, homeless or live in a home, have a family or no family. Everyone reflected on how lucky they really are. The nativity was accompanied by the wonderful school choir. Finally with a few words from the Meitheal team, the event finished up with two Christmas songs that everyone got involved in before they enjoy their Christmas exams next week. [Oisin – 5th year student]

“I learnt that Christmas is not just about presents, we must also think about the homeless and how they don’t have as much as us. We have given to the SVP hampers and the Operation Christmas Child Appeal, that makes me feel good because I know I have helped people” [Ewan – 1st year student]

“I thought the Nativity Service was meaningful. It made me think about others less fortunate than ourselves, like the people who are homeless and families that don’t have as much as we do, both in Ireland and abroad. I was Mary in the nativity scene; it was fun and helped to understand the meaning of Christmas and what it felt like to be told there ‘is no room at the Inn’. It made us think about how we include our friends and people in our year group.” [Mary Kate – 1st year student]

“The Nativity made me think about how we can help our family this Christmas. By putting down our phones and talking to our family and friends. By uploading positive posts on social media and by reading our words before we post to make sure it does not affect anyone in a negative way. It reminded me of the real meaning of Christmas, giving of our time to others and making people happy. Remember the Reason for the Season!” [Ciara – 1st year student]
